This model operates by allowing flow from port 2 to port 1 when de-energized, while simultaneously blocking flow at port 3. Upon energization, the valve's cartridge spool shifts to permit flow from port 3 to port 2 and blocks flow out of port 1. Notably, while port 1 can be fully pressurized, it is specifically not intended to serve as the inlet.
