The Bosch Rexroth 4WP6W6X/N/5 (R978006684) is a high-performance directional spool valve designed for controlling the start, stop, and direction of fluid flow in hydraulic systems. This valve is part of the WP series and features a robust housing, pneumatic actuation cylinder, control spool, and return springs. The radial positioning of the control ports allows for flexible installation options. When not energized, the control spool maintains its central or initial position due to the return springs, except in the case of impulse spools.
This model includes a throttle insert that can be used when operating conditions generate flows during switching processes that may exceed the valve's performance limit. The throttle is inserted into channel P to manage these flow conditions effectively.
The 4WP6W6X/N/5 offers versatility with its configuration options. It comes without spring return but includes a detent feature in version ..OF.. which allows each spool position to be securely locked. In version ..O.. without spring return or detent, there is no defined spool position when deenergized.
This direct-operated directional spool valve operates pneumatically and adheres to porting patterns according to DIN form A without a locating hole and ISO with a locating hole. For mounting purposes, subplates are available but must be ordered separately. Additionally, this valve can be fitted with inductive position switches and contactless proximity sensors for enhanced operational precision.
With its size and component series X classification, this model can withstand a maximum operating pressure of up to bar and facilitate a maximum flow rate of l/min. Its reliable performance characteristics make it suitable for various applications where precise hydraulic control is required.

General information
Valves of type WP are fluidically actuated directional spool valves. They control the start, stop and direction of a flow.
The directional valves basically consist of housing (1), one or two actuation elements (2) (pneumatic actuation cylinder), control spool (3) and one or two return springs (4). The ports for the control are positioned radially (5).
When de-energized, the control spool (3) is held in the central position or in the initial position by the return springs (4) (except impulse spool).
The control spool (3) is moved to the desired spool position by means of the actuation elements.
Throttle insert
The use of a throttle insert is required when due to prevailing operating conditions, flows can occur during the switching processes, which exceed the performance limit of the valve.
It is inserted in channel P of the directional valve.

Directional valves with pneumatic actuation are also available as a 2-spool position valve with detent (7). If actuation elements with detent are used, each spool position can be locked.

Notice!
The switching function of the valves is independent from the filtration due to the adhesive effect. To achieve the specified admissible flow values, a full flow filtration with 25 μm is recommended. The flow forces acting within the valves also influence the flow performance.
With 4-way directional valves, the specified flow data are therefore valid for normal operation with 2 directions of flow (e. g. from P to A and simultaneous return flow from B to T).
If there is only one direction of flow, the admissible flow may be significantly lower in critical cases (e. g. if a 4-way directional valve is used as a 3-way directional valve due to blocked port A or B).
